Grit conveys my feelings of loss, perseverance, absence, resilience and conscientiousness. Inspired from autobiographical memory, the pieces independently are time periods of emotional awareness of mental and physical reaction experienced during personal heartache. Collectively they tell a narrative that uses factual statements and events to help share this time of change. My desire to establish permanency and self-identity has increased my need to consider what is necessary for me to feel satisfied. On the surface, I look at the stability of my home and personal relationships as components that are required for me to feel comfort and security. Notions of domesticity and the development of family life are also reflected within this construct.
